Welcome to probably the last blog post of the year (maybe not, we’ll see) with the wonderful title From Ice to Fire: Why I Stop Recommending the Iceberg Effect Book.
Those who diligently read my last blockbuster will already know that I wanted to write about this topic next. βπΌ
Today, it’s simply about what the title says: I will explain why I stop recommending the Iceberg Effect Book and instead, I am recommending my readers the Affiliate Marketers Playbook.
There will also be an important learning here for you. Make sure to read everything.
But let’s start from the beginning for those who are new to this blog and have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about.
The Fairy-tale Dream of Earning Money Online
8 Years Ago Fate Took Its Course
Once upon a time, there was a young man with the crazy dream of making money on the internet. This young man tried to do so and had the first ideas about it since around 2016.
On his journey to possible online success, he failed on all possible levels. He did everything wrong that a single person could possibly do wrong. He invested in the wrong products and courses, he procrastinated, and he was simply overwhelmed.
Breaking Free: A New Opportunity On The Horizon
In 2019, he had finally had enough of all this suffering. And as fate would have it, he found a webinar by a certain Dean Holland.
What was said there was pretty convincing, so this young man decided to follow the call of his heart and joined Dean Holland’s coaching program.
I can imagine that this will make some of you curious and wondering if you could take a look at it. To be honest, you actually can’t. What I watched back then doesn’t exist in the exact same form anymore. But it still exists, just much better and more exclusive.
However, since I have a good connection to my good old friend Dean Holland, he allowed me to share this link with you. Feel free to check it out if you’re interested.
The Art of Promoting Exclusive Products
As part of this more exclusive program, I received training to start this blog, for example, and also the unique opportunity to promote and recommend special products. These are products that not everyone can simply promote. One of these special products was the Affiliate Marketers Playbook.
At that time, it was the flagship product and the best recommendation to earn four-figure amounts. And that’s exactly what I did, and I made my first sales through it. But shortly after, Dean Holland decided to write and publish a new book called The Iceberg Effect.
In the meantime, Superhero Tobi was born, known for questionable decisions and actions.
Superhero Tobi did what a real superhero would do. He thought that if there’s a new product on the market, it would make sense to recommend it to his readers.
Okay, let’s stop this fairy tale now because I can already see that this blog post is getting too long. π€£
New vs. Old: The Clash of Content and Aesthetics
Anyway, I decided to start recommending The Iceberg Effect from now on because it simply had better content, a better funnel, and, quite simply, it was the newer product.
That sounds quite logical and understandable, right? So one could also think that it was not a mistake, right?
Correct.
However, there was one crucial point that our superhero did not consider. Namely, that although the Iceberg Effect was the better book, it did not have the better layout for its target audience.
And that is exactly the crucial point, the playbook is a slightly older version of the iceberg effect, which is why the iceberg effect book is the more updated product.
Nevertheless, the better layout and name belong to the Affiliate Marketers Playbook, especially for our superhero Tobi.
Because let’s be honest, for someone who is like me and sometimes writes weird, funny and crazy things the playbook fits much better.
Because superhero and player simply go together. π¦ΈββοΈπ€π
What I mean by that is that the Iceberg Effect book also appears more professional overall. It actually seems more professional than I am myself. π€ͺ
The Crucial Lesson: Why Selling What Resonates with You is the Key
The message of the day is that you should only sell, promote, and recommend products that perfectly represent you, that perfectly appeal to you, and that you would buy yourself.
Because at the end of the day, your ideal customer is yourself.
And exactly at this point, I had subconsciously struggled for many years. Because if I had been honest with myself, I would have had to admit that if I were my ideal customer, a person like me, Tobi, would probably never have bought a book like the Iceberg Effect.
I had been much more drawn to the Playbook by its name and layout alone.
But I, being an idiot, ignored this inner voice all these years for the aforementioned logical reasons and owning both books.
One Last Time…
I will do it one last time and strongly recommend to you, from the bottom of my heart, to rather choose the Iceberg Effect if you have the choice and are interested in affiliate marketing, because it is simply and plainly more in depth in terms of content.
Nevertheless, in the future, I will recommend the Playbook because it represents me as my own potential customer the best, and of course, it is not a bad product it is just the previous version of what the Iceberg Effect is.
The Unspoken Reason to Choose The Iceberg Effect Over The Playbook
Well, another reason that I haven’t mentioned yet is that in the Playbook, there were two possible up sells that I personally couldn’t live with.
They offered bulletproof ads courses, which I personally found far too complicated. Dean didn’t do these courses personally, he just bought the license to sell them.
I personally didn’t like that at all.
Fortunately Dean has recently announced that he will be removing these two offerings from the playbook funnel, which encourages me even more to offer it to you from now on.
However, if you still see offers for some “bulletproof ads courses” after purchasing the playbook: DO NOT BUY!!!
I went through one or two of these bulletproof courses and didn’t understand sh*t. π I don’t want you to waste your money even though I’d earn nice commissions if you purchased one of these.
The Ice Will Never Melt Completely
I hope that with the help of this article, you were able to somehow understand what I am getting at and why I am doing this.
Please note that if you scroll through past blog posts and read older articles or watch some videos, you will still find many traces of me recommending the Iceberg Effect.
It is very laborious for me now to remove all traces and change them to the Affiliate Marketers Playbook.
I will do it bit by bit and, of course, also adapt it in the future.
Conclusion
I hope you were able to take away a very important core message from this blog post and that you take this message that I have conveyed to you extremely seriously.
In my opinion, nothing is more important in internet marketing than fully standing behind the things you recommend to others with all your heart.
Unfortunately, this was never the case with the Iceberg Effect in terms of layout and everything surrounding it, especially since I knew that there was a better alternative that suited me better.
But what the heck. It is what it is.
Did you ever promote something that wasn’t 100% you? How did that go? Feel free to share this or something else that burdens your heart in the comments. π
See you soon,
Tobi
PS:Β Perhaps I should have named the headline as well: From Ice to Fire: ‘Why I Stop Recommending The Iceberg Effect Book in Public’. Because in a personal private conversation, for all the reasons mentioned, it could still very well be that I would rather recommend the iceberg to you. But then I would have missed another great opportunity for a PS. π₯Έ
